Angel Falls Hailey
May 5, 2009 Angel Falls is one of the modern Seven Wonders of the World because it is the world largest waterfall and flows through the cracks rather then over a cliff. Angel Falls is located in eastern Venezuela. This wonder was found by an American pilot in 1935. While looking for gold Jimmy Angel flew across Angle Falls and approximated it to be a mile in height. But in 1949 he was proven wrong by Ruth Robertson who measured the first main drop to be 2,648 feet and finished the measurement to be 3,212 feet. Venezuelans were actually the first ones to find this astonishing waterfall. Angel Falls is on a plateau named Auyan-Tepui which rises 8,400 feet above sea level. The stunning waterfall is located on the Churun River in the Guiana Highlands. Angel Falls is one of the Seven Wonders of the World because it is twice the size of the Empire State Building which makes it the highest waterfall in the world. Also with the addition of the water finding its way through the jaw dropping waterfall and then plunging out rather to just powering over the cliff. You can now obviously see why Angel Falls is one of the Seven Wonders of the World!
